...An Open Letter to Darius Dickson Ishaku, The Executive Governor of Taraba State. - Faisal Abubakar Chindo

Dear Darius,

According to your mantra "Give me peace, I will give you development". For the time being there was relative peace in the state, we waited all that long for the so-called development but non to count. Please, if you can't afford the development I beseech you to have the mentality of keeping the relative peace we have. As a Tarabian, it pains me to the marrow to witness your administration claiming the projects executed by the late Government of Danbaba Suntai and co. I challenge you and the entire ‘Rescue Team’ to point out a single project carried out by your government. All you can best present are myriad billboards that were brought to stand with erroneous adverts of your fake and presupposed achievements for the ignorant, unpatriotic Tarabians to celebrate.

As an architect, your governance is a disgrace to the society of architectures and a slap to your title. I thought the idea of your ‘Rescue Team’ is to give a new look to the state having an architect behind the steering but it's not. I think the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to reach us here in Taraba State because I can guarantee the whole nation that Taraba State is a haven for corruption where people are getting richer day by day and the state owes at least 7months salary yet to be paid.

Nawa ooh! It's under the watch of same government that some people will cause trouble and go scot-free. I want to know, are these love, hatred or the development you promised? Now I remember; what about the bailout from the government of the federation, did you use them for feeding the IDPs in their various camps because the last time I checked we don't have more than one in the state. My question is when are we going to stop playing a role in a movie that has no Director? It is not a drama it's reality so wake up, stop acting like a care-taker or an acting governor. There are so many things we lack as a state; we need something tangible more than expanding our drainages, we need good roads, reliable health care, clean water, agricultural improvement and so many more.

The same peaceful Tarabians we have in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s are the same Tarabians we have in this age of 21st Century, then what makes you think we are not peaceful? Peaceful or not peaceful, I bet you we lack good governance. Some people in the government of the day push and pull anybody and anything, anytime and anywhere.

Anyway, humans are forgetful creature, in case you forget, I will remind you that as a citizen my office is the number one office, you are just a bunch of servants working under my chief servant. Remember as well that it is the revenue of my state and my tax that pay for your salary and fuel your car and from same you make your loot. So, please concentrate on your looting and stop causing trouble. I doubt if any of you understand what I mean by 4+4=8, your slogan, Sir, what makes you think we can survive the hardship in the first four. I know that the entire country is in recession but it does not stop other states from doing well. Therefore, that your mantra of 4+4 cannot be trusted and I can't risk it, It’s left to me to vote in or vote out a government but am only crying out loud for good governance come 2019 because to before warn is to before harm. I will play my role in the movie too, my PVC is intact.

I was 22 last month, at this age I think am old enough to punish bad governance. To my fellow Tarabians who love the Darius led government and support it wholeheartedly, I am sure you have enough money in your bank accounts, you have enormous foods in your stores that will last you till 2019 or 2023, your children are enjoying the free education in the state and the safety of your life and properties is guaranteed.

However, I never mean to disparage your ‘achievements’ as a government but to hint you that you are far below par. This is beyond religious, ethnic or political differences; it is about good governance, which I yearn for.

I don't care about the consequence of this long overdue letter of mine, all I know is that I am speaking my mind and the truth and I just want to make COMMON SENSE...
