Lecturer Slaps UNILORIN Students' Union President

The University of Ilorin Students' Union President, Comrade Sobowale Lukman Olawale was today slapped by the Sub Dean of Engineering, Dr Ajiboye while mediating on behalf of students of the College of Health Sciences, Oke-Oyi.

Eminent as he is fondly call said, He left for the CBT centre early and had not even eaten in order to get there early and help the students.

At some minutes past 4pm, He tried soliciting for students of the Department of Nursing, College of Health Sciences, Oke-Oyi who had been around by 9am, to sit for their exam early and go back on time due to distance.
Adding that he was directed to the office of the secretary, Dr Tomori, at the CBT centre. Getting there, he met them talking and decided to wait till they were done talking and Dr Ajiboye noticed him waiting and asked him to step back which he did, and again shooed him away, he again obliged and then told him to get out. He tried explaining that he is the students union president and before he knew it, he dipped his hands in his eyes.

Comrade Eminent challenged him and asked why he would do that, students of the University came to his aid and this almost lead to an uproar but as a leader he calmed the students down and everything got settled.

He also noted that he has gotten an apology from the CBT centre as  regards what happened adding that they thanked him for the maturity and cool headedness he displayed when the incident happened.

However, a reliable source disclosed that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, has ordered the management to take action against the Sub Dean tomorrow. The Vice Chancellor noted that he is strongly behind the Students' Union President and that action will be taken against the Sub Dean by tomorrow, the source added.

This is as a result of the just concluded meeting of the Students' Union executives and members of the Senate Council with the Vice Chancellor of the institution.

This happens barely weeks after a report emanated from University of Lagos, when a lecturer punished some students by asking them to be on their kneels.
