DRUGS and how they're destroying young lifes on the
Isle of Wight – Oliver’s Life Story
My name is Oliver and I'm 19.
I live on the Isle of Wight. For the past 5 years, I have been fighting my drug
(cocaine) addiction and I'm here to tell you my story.
It all started when I was
just 14 and my house was burned down in a fire caused by a faulty gas line, I
my mother and sister had to move into a flat which put stress on all of us and
as strong as I thought I was the stress was too much for me and I turned to
drinking strong spirits with my friend Calum as he was under a lot of pressure
from his private school.
I and Calum continued
drinking for a few months, then someone offered us a line of cocaine which we
took as we were drunk and we're up for anything to have a good night, after
that first line we were hooked and couldn't stop as the addiction grew stronger
over the years. I and Calum saw ourselves fall into a spiral of depression and drug addiction and it ruined our relationship with our
friends and family.
We live on a Island of
hate and racism. We can’t escape it because we have no money to go anywhere, so
we have to stay. This Island is full of drug addict and violent people. Some of us couldn't afford a spacebar because of horrible drug addiction. I cry every night before going to bed because of these.
Please put my story out there
for the people of your county and the world to see, especially the teenagers
and youths for them to learn from my story.
