Unilorin Suspends Two Lecturers

Two lecturers have been suspended by the authority of the University of Ilorin for insubordination

The lecturers in question are two factional ASUU leaders of the institution. They are the chairman, Dr Kayode Niyi Afolayan, and Dr Bode Olumorin who is the secretary.

The VC, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali in an interview with journalist in Ilorin, said that the two lecturers were suspended for gross insubordination. "They are undergoing two queries before" he added.

On the other hand, the affected staffs also spoke to newsmen yesterday in Ilorin. Dr Kayode Niyi Afolayan alleged the institution of impunity and nepotism. "We raise the issue of impunity and nepotism in the system. The wife of the VC, Mrs Toyin Ambali was appointed and promoted in a year among others". He said.

Likewise, Dr Bode Olumorin said they are only whistle blowers. "What we are doing is blowing whistle which is in line with the agenda of the federal government. So, we believe the presidency will come into the matter".

We have to recollect that the authority did not recognize this duo as authentic ASUU executives but they have ASUU at the national level's backing. ASUU recently suspended Unilorin for alleged corruption and other matters.
